The AvecNet Kick Off Meeting was held at the White Sands Hotel, Dar es Salaam Tanzania on 14-17 March 2011. The meeting brought together project scientists and PhD candidates from Burkina Faso, France, Greece, Italy, Ivory Coast, Kenya, Malawi, Switzerland, Tanzania and the UK. Members of our external technical advisory group joined us from the USA and a representative of our funder, the EU, joined us from Belgium. During the meeting AvecNet collaborators were able to gain an understanding of all elements of the project and get to know each other. They were tasked with carrying out detailed planning for each of the work packages and on ensuring that AvecNet has a strong translational focus. The meeting was followed by two days of training sessions on social research methods and quantitative analysis for project scientists, images from the meeting can be found on our Gallery page.
